It does exactly what it says on the tin. Very little original material but everything with my own personal spin applied. Enjoy it while you can...

Sci-Fi London

Any of you who have taken the time out to look at my profile will see that under my list of (all time) Favorite Films is listed La Cite des Enfants Perdus. So it was with great excitement when I found out that this film was showing at the London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film, or SFL8, this April.

I'm not sure when I started watching French language films, or why to be honest (no offence). I do not know a second language. I was notorious at school for being the girl getting kicked out of french lessons for goading Mr Zola, our Hungarian, french teacher. So it came as a surprise one day, sitting down to watch Subway, and the start of my love affair (although he never knew it) with Luc Besson.

Eventually I found my way to "La Cite" via Delicatessen, first on VHS and then by a huge task that was trying to purchase a non-english-dubbed version on DVD (viva amazon.fr), and probably my favorite films of all time (sorry Luc, although I still hold a soft spot for you).

Even more fantastic is that Marc Caro is doing a Q&A following the showing. Hopefully my two year stint in the Anarchy Online, French speaking, Role-playing Corporation, "Les Renoncantes", will still stand me in good stead..

Needless to say, I have my tickets...
